Regains (R3)
What is this?
This is the vending machine, sometimes referred to as The Regain Hole! Located in scenic The Helios Suites Lobby, the Vending Machine stands tall, proud, and inviting! Characters get coins throughout the week and put them in, and a couple times a week the mods will slide in and decide what they get out of the experience! Items range from things your character might recognize from home, things your character might recognize from someone else, and... mostly it's just weird junk.
Wait, coins?
Yup, coins! In character, there's no good explanation for why they show up, but every once in a while a number of silver coins, about the size of an American Silver Dollar, appear overnight, neatly stacked by a character's bedside table or windowsill. Out of character, these coins are your reward for meeting and going above and beyond the call of duty in terms of threads! For every five comments from your character in a thread (multiple increments in one thread for multiple coins ARE allowed up to five, or 25 comments), you can link that thread here and be rewarded with an appropriate number of coins!
Up to ten coins can be redeemed per comment, but not per regain period - multiple comments are allowed, more than ten just becomes a little unwieldy on the mod end. Please do not edit your comments to add more coins! Just make another, it's fine. Generally, regains will be processed twice a week, but if there are delays or changes we'll let you know.
Can I get stuff from home back here?
Why, yes you can! Every roll has a chance to drop a character regain, either from your character or from another - though most of the time it'll be from a unique pool of very special and very useful items chosen by... well, someone must have picked them.
What if my character gets a regain from someone else's character?
Well, in that case, do whatever your character would with it! You might want to let the other player know for courtesy, of course, and work something out if they would rather your character not like... eat it, but ultimately it's your choice.
Do coins expire?
Nope! You can keep backtagging a thread on Week 1 until the final week and turn it in then, it's your call.
What if I expire?
In the unfortunate event of your character's planned death, I highly encourage you to turn in coins anyway! Your characters final coins will be distributed as possible between their threading partners.
Are there threads that don't count for coins?
Yep! Any thread in an investigation, a trial, or private threads with NPCs is disqualified from counting for coins, but most everything else is fair game! You can even use threads both for AC and regains!
Can I submit a thread again if I already got coins for part of it, but it got longer?
Yep! Just make sure to note so, and start the thread when you link it just after the last multiple of five - don't want any of your comments going to waste, after all!
CONGRATULATIONS
36. Shovel - A normal shovel. For digging. You know, with all the dirt you have access to.
Beary Loud Outfit - Have you ever wanted to wear a jacket with plush bears on the arms with yellow pleather pants and platform sneakers? No? That's coward's talk. (Courtesy of Jobu)
57. Atlas Shrugged - A hardbound copy of Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand! Makes for poor reading, but fantastic kindling!
44. “Personal Space Reminder” - A small handheld device that, when you press a button, generates an external current of electricity. Could be dangerous if you touched someone with the electric parts!
11. Non-Descript Golden Man Award - A gold statue of a blank man, sized to be held in one hand! A sign on the bottom says it’s for… Best Grandma? Unfortunately it’s not even made out of gold, it’s just gold-painted bronze.
65. The Lusty Argonian Maid - A set of two books, containing the worst euphemisms the world has ever seen. Somehow, this bodice-ripper is very popular.
40. Pin-Up Calendar? - A calendar for the year 1965, featuring lurid pictures of… large men in full diving suits?
Brynhildr - A blue tome with gold inscriptions all over the cover. It looks like it's probably capable of all sorts of arcane things if you know how to use it. Unfortunately, no one here knows how to use it.
66. Teacher of the Year Plaque - It's a wooden plaque with a red apple on it, proclaiming someone named William Schuester the Teacher of the Year in 2012...except there's sloppy quotes carved around the word Teacher. How rude!
