R3 ENDGAME INFO/CHECK-IN
Hello and welcome to the final week of Unknown Seas, survivors! It's been a long trip, but you're finally near the end and your chance to face off against the Mayor for your right to get the hell out of this stupid city! But of course, that's easier said than done - if you want out, here's what you're gonna have to do:
1. Comment to this post below
You're being divided up into investigation teams - more on that a little later - and this post is for both sorting you into those teams and checking in! Make sure you read this post before commenting, but it's important to know who you're working with!
2. Participate in endgame logs
This one is pretty simple! The goal of Unknown Seas is to be relaxed about activity, so I'm not going to put a hard number on it, but every character should have some contribution to both investigation and the final trial. Only by working together - and through participation from everyone here - can you reach the ending! Or at least any kind of ending you're going to want.
3. That's it!
Now obviously step 2 is pretty big, but ultimately it really is all we expect out of you guys. Work together to find an IC solution to the problems laid in front of you, same as you have for the past two months - this problem is just a lot bigger, and the solution potentially more complicated.
Q&A.
Hang on, what's happening here?
Well, through machinations of your own and the recently deceased, events are rapidly accelerating to the breaking point we like to call endgame! That means a final confrontation between the characters and the mastermind for all the proverbial marbles.
But how's it going to end?
That's spoilers! But ultimately, the ending of the game you get will be shaped by your characters' actions and decisions here at the end - there might be a Big Choice or two presented for the sake of the narrative, but there's also no Right Answer to those choices. Nope, not even to “What do we do with the Mayor?”
Can we Golden End?
That's definitely a possibility! But remember that a Golden End isn't guaranteed, so this is no time to get complacent!
How's this going to work?
So on Thursday, August 4th, at 1pm EST, a log will go up for the Final Investigation! After a couple of events ICly, characters will be sent into a few newish areas to take a look around and find a bunch of secrets, divided into four teams, over the course of two days oocly! Combined with some of the things they've already found, this should give everyone together enough information to solve all the mysteries presented to them!
Saturday, oocly (but immediately after, icly), characters will be summoned to... well, somewhere one last time for the Final Trial, a direct battle of wits and mystery-solving prowess against the Mayor herself! Make enough progress solving why you're here and what's been happening and she'll even finally make a proper appearance. Given the recent trial pace, and to account for the members of the survivor pool on odd schedules, we’re anticipating the final trial stretching over both Saturday and Sunday, from noon EST to sometime in the late evening.
And how does it end for the Mayor?
Only one way to find out! Just remember that rules are still in place until the end of the game - just because the Mayor is there, doesn't mean physical violence against her is more of an option, you know?
Hang on, I have another question!
Ask it when you check in below!
Wait what’s that other comment down there?
So! Without spoiling you for who she is, the Mayor has done a lot of research on you guys and your worlds. It’s kind of her thing. However, the last thing we want to do is have her lash out against your character with info about them/their world that they don’t know and you don’t want them to know! With that in mind, we’d like to ask that in addition to checking in with your endgame inves team, you provide us a small summary of your character’s insecurities/fears, as well as your comfort level with her dropping canon secrets your character may not know on them!
... But I'm not checking in! I wanna know about R1+R2 participation! Golden End epilogue! Canonmates???
So! Once everything is done, Carmen is going to take everyone to a fun nighttime beach party somewhere super isolated! There's gonna be bonfires, there's gonna be a lighthouse, there's gonna be barbecues! It's gonna be neat!
Each character can bring up to one castmate, with the knowledge that prior rounds will have to bring them voluntarily! R3, well... the vending machine is inviting your guests and she's great but she does not understand some things so if you want a more antagonistic canonmate go ahead! You can play your own canonmate, that's fine, and canonmates can be handwaved!
You can also donate your canonmate spot to someone else in your round! We generally prefer a max of 2 per person, but 3 if it's funny is fine. Please make sure to coordinate with your fellow players, but we're going mostly on the honor system here!
